Luther Wayne Gilbert, 73, of Mill Spring N.C., passed away Oct. 4, 2015. He was the son of the late Hoit and Edna Mae Gilbert. Luther worked for many years at Bigelow Sanford in Landrum, S.C., until his retirement.

Luther is survived by his wife Josephine Gilbert, and a daughter Connie Gilbert both of the home. He is also survived by one brother Wade Gilbert (Diane) and three nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Joe Dean Gilbert, David Gilbert, and Roger Gilbert.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at Grassy Knob Fellowship Church in Rutherfordton, N.C., with Reverend  Jerry Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Grassy Knob Fellowship Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1-1:45 p.m.
