Katy moved to the Landrum area in 1977 with her husband Ben Davis, and worked with the University of South Carolina Upstate for 33 years until her retirement in 2010. However, before she retired, Katy entered the world of volunteerism by delivering for Meals on Wheels. She also served on committees and at events with her church, Holy Cross Episcopal in Tryon, N.C. – work that continues even today.

After retiring, Katy joined the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills volunteer team. Every Friday morning she arrives at the Hospice House in Landrum, S.C. to greet visitors and provide clerical support to the administrative staff. She works until noon and then leaves, only to return in the evening to prepare and deliver meals to the patients in the Hospice House.

Katy has a special gift of kindness that she enjoys sharing with everyone she meets. We are lucky that she chose to share her gifts with us. The Second Wind Hall of Fame provides an opportunity to recognize retirees, such as Katy, for their outstanding service to others and the community.
