When Landrum varsity football players suit up later today, it will be for the season opener against and at Travelers Rest.

This non-conference game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Along with controlling the ball and avoiding penalties, the Cardinals will focus on containing Devildogs’ running back Xavier Terry (#2), who tore off 280 yards in a preseason game last week.

Landrum has quarterback Peyton Kemmerlin (#7) and several fine running backs, including Anthony Anderson (#12).

If the Cardinals contain Terry to modest yardage, that will help the Landrum control the tempo, and earn a win.

“Everywhere else,” said Landrum head coach Jason Farmer, “we match up pretty well against them.”

Another Cardinal plus is that the team is at full strength, and ready to run on all cylinders.

“We’re healthy,” Farmer noted. We have everybody back. We’re ready to win. Our kids are excited about it.”
