St. Luke’s Hospital to host blood drive Aug. 20

Published 9:45 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2015

Every 90 days, St. Luke’s Hospital hosts a blood drive with The Blood Connection (TBC) because donating blood is just another way we care for our patients. Blood drives ensure a steady supply for those in need of this precious, life-saving resource. Hospital teammates, volunteers, administrators and community members who donate blood enjoy the perks of a soft drink, a cookie and TBC reward points!

Sure, it’s nice to get those perks, but the real benefits are knowing you’ve done a good thing for someone in need. You’ve given the gift of life. And through these donations, St. Luke’s Hospital has fresh supplies of blood products readily available in the lab for our patients.

Through donation, blood and blood products can be shared from one individual to another safely and efficiently to help people suffering critical injuries or serious diseases like cancer, heart disease and sickle cell anemia. As a hospital, we must always be good stewards of life-saving blood products used every day by patients recovering from surgery, injury or illness.
