Robert James Kirkendoll, Jr., 64, of Tryon, N.C. passed away Saturday morning, June 27, 2015 in the Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, N.C.

Born in Tryon, N.C., he was the son of the late Robert James Kirkendoll, Sr. and Luvenia Glenn Kirkendoll. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during Vietnam. Mr. Kirkendoll worked many years at the Tea House in Tryon and was a local artist. He was a member of Garrison Chapel Baptist Church, Tryon, N.C.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Kirkendoll.

Surviving are two brothers, Eugene Kirkendoll of Asheville, N.C. and Timothy Kirkendoll of Wellford, S.C.; two sisters, Sharon Kirkendoll and Louvenia Nesbitt both of Tryon, N.C. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Rev. Tim Brown officiating with military honors by the Polk County Veteran Memorial Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be private in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C.
