Jacquelina “Jackie” Gillespie

Jacquelina “Jackie” Gillespie, 83, of Saluda, went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Elizabeth House after an extended illness. A native of Chester County, S.C., she had lived in Henderson County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Joseph W. Hinson and Inez Parks, and was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Wise.

She owned and operated Jackie’s Hair Styling in Hendersonville, and Green River Cove Tubing. She was a member of Faith Temple Baptist Church in Mill Spring. Jackie loved her family.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Cecil Gillespie; four sons, Rodney Griffin of Hendersonville, Ronald Griffin and his wife Judy of Hendersonville, Wendell Gillespie and his wife Denise of Rutherfordton, Stephen Harrington II of Asheville; two daughters, Joy King and her husband Jimmy of Gaffney, S.C., and Melissa Childress and her husband Chuck of Hendersonville; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Schaller of Saluda; one sister, Shirlee Pearson of Hendersonville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home.  Services will be officiated by the Revs. Fred Seigfred and Jimmy King. A private entombment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Faith Temple Baptist Church, 662 Mt. Range Rd., Mill Spring, NC 28756.
