The Crossroads String Band entertained a group of bluegrass and barbecue fans at the Tryon Fine Arts Center’s Peterson Amphitheater on Sunday, May 17. The free concert, barbecue and sweet tea were sponsored by a Community Matters Free Event Grant from the Polk County Community Foundation. Sisters LeVonna and Elizalee Suber came with their grandmother Viola Wood Suber to listen to the band and enjoy the food. There will be another PCCF Community Matters free event Sunday, June 7 featuring Phil & Gaye with Storyteller Beverly Burnette, plus a campfire and s’mores. For more information call TFAC’s box office at 828-859-8322 or visit tryonarts.org. (Submitted by Susan Brady)
