Betty Jo Arrowood

Betty Jo McDowell Arrowood, 83, of Highway #9 South, Columbus, N.C. died Friday, March 27, 2015 at her home.

Born in Polk County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Joseph William and Shirley Branscom McDowell and was the widow of Doyle Ray Arrowood who died in l989.   Betty graduated from Furman University with a degree in education. She was an elementary school teacher and taught at Green Creek Elementary School for approximately 28 years prior to her retirement. She was an active, lifetime member of the Green Creek First Baptist Church. Betty was known and loved by all who knew her, and her passing leaves a great hole in the hearts of her family and friends.

Survivors include: A son, Kenneth Ray Arrowood (Pam) of Green Creek, N.C.; a daughter, Cindy Arrowood of Seattle, Wash.; a grandson, Will Arrowood of Green Creek and a niece and nephew. She was preceded in death by her brother, James McDowell.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in the Green Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Allen McKinney and Rev. Jim Hooper officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. A time of sharing with friends and family will be held immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
