Alice W. Foster

Alice W. Foster of Tryon, N.C. passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 28, 2015 at Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, S.C.

 Born in Cadillac, Mich., she was the daughter of Marie Hawkins Wilson and the late Marvin B. Wilson. She attended Marathon High School and was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church. She continued her education through out her life and had a passion for art.

 Surviving in addition to her mother are two daughters, Lorri F. Smith of Belmont, N.C. and Julie F. Whitman of Tryon, N.C.; one sister, Bonnie W. Brogan.  Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

 A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, make donations to Isothermal Community College Polk Foundation, 1255 West Mills St., Columbus, N.C. 28722, in memory of Alice Foster for the purpose of purchasing the equipment and supplies for the Art Program of Isothermal Community College Polk Center; Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mountain Rd., Columbus, N.C. 28722; or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, N.C. 28722.

 The family would like to thank all the friends, Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and Jane Foster for their loving care shown toward Alice and her family during her sickness.
