Iola Lashua Brock

Iola Lashua Brock, 93, of Laurel Woods Assisted Living, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015 in Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum, S.C.

A native of Neenah, Wisc., she was the daughter of the late Egbert and Maude Cleaves Lashua. Iola moved to Tryon, N.C. in 1948, where she and her husband, Marion, co-founded Brock’s Cleaners. Together they successfully served their community until their retirement.

Surviving are: three sons, Bill (Donna) of Columbus, N.C., Ronald (Jane) of Tryon, N.C., and Robert of Isle of Palms, S.C.; a daughter, June of Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Dr. Elmer Lashua of Tryon; three grandchildren, Jessica Brock Peters (Drew), Lashua Brock (Sara), and Ansley Lynn. Also surviving is a great granddaughter, Cadence Mae Brock. Mrs. Brock was predeceased by her husband, William Marion Brock, Sr. She was the youngest daughter of nine children.

A private burial will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.

A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at Laurel Woods Assisted Living, Columbus, N.C., with Rev. Laura Jones officiating.

Pallbearers will be Lash Brock, Martin Lashua, Baron Smith, Travis Smith, Mickey Smith, and Bobby Cowan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, N.C. 28722
