Polk County’s men’s varsity basketball team notched its first win of the season, and the Wolverines’ 59-54 victory over Mountain Heritage on Friday night, came against a favored conference rival, and on the road.

Polk is now 1-8 overall, and 1-1 in Western Highlands Conference competition. The Cougars dropped to 3-5 overall, and 2-3, respectively.

This Tuesday evening, the Wolverines visit Brevard for a non-conference game. On January 2, they host conference rival Mitchell. On Jan. 6, they visit Avery, another WHC rival, and on Jan. 7, host A.C. Reynolds.
