Green Creek Hounds 25th Opening Hunt will be held Nov. 8, 2014. Each fall, Green Creek Hounds has a special day earmarked to bless the hounds and celebrate the sport of fox hunting. This event includes the pageantry of foxhunters on well-groomed horses, in formal hunt attire, spectators on foot and riding in Tally-Ho wagons, and the hounds gathered for the ceremony.

The Blessing is at 10 a.m. at Green River Farm. The officiate of the blessing is Father Mickey Mugan from Holy Cross Church.

Those wanting to view the blessing, enter at the large, stone pillared Green River Farm gates on John Watson Rd. Park in the Smith’s barn parking lot and walk to Blessing site. No cars are to follow Tally Ho wagons into fields. This is held on private property, so attendees are asked to please be respectful of the land.
