The kindergarten classes at Polk Central Elementary sponsored a school-wide food drive. Throughout the week, students were encouraged to participate by bringing in food. A school-wide food pyramid was constructed in front of the Media Center. Everyone enjoyed watching it grow. The kindergarten classes donated the food to Thermal Belt Outreach during a field trip to the facility. While visiting Thermal Belt, the students learned more about hunger in Polk County. Everyone that participated and supported the Hunger Awareness Week is much appreciated. A total of 830 food items were collected.
