Mallie Eugene “Gene” Thompson

Mallie Eugene “Gene” Thompson, 88 years old, went home to Heaven on Sept. 21, 2014 after a long battle with cancer.
Born July 6, 1926, he was the son of Thomas M. and Mamie C. Thompson. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy and again in the Air Force. He was a special man, loved the Lord, his family and country.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of -64 years, Nelda Jones Thompson.
Surviving are three daughters, Beverly Large Cowan and Bobby, Cathy Roper Roper and Stacy T. Roper and Johnny; grandchildren Shelley and Patrick Langley, Taylor and Haylie, Brandon Roper, Matt Cowan, Tyler Horne, Collin Mills and Kelsey Roper; also two sisters, Martha Wilson and Ruth Hall; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. at Lynn First Baptist Church in Lynn. Visitation and refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall. Anyone is welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome for the church.
