Tryon Riding & Hunt Club presents September Horse Trials

For the 39th consecutive year, TRHC is pleased to host equestrians from a five state region on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20-21 at FENCE. Competing at this United States Event Association’s nationally recognized event, riders begin the three-phase competition in dressage on Saturday morning, followed by a challenging cross-country course, then wrapping up the competition on Sunday morning with stadium jumping.

Scores from the three phases combine to set the stage for the top riders and horses. This year’s event is a groundbreaker for the Tryon area, as significant prize money will be offered for the first time ever to winners in divisions from Preliminary to Starter. As the feature Horse Trials sponsor, Glassy Mountain Farm is key to the development and success already noted with huge interest and a large increase in entries.

The Farm House, also a long-standing partner of the TRHC, is providing fabulous gifts for winners as well. “We are thrilled with the sponsorship interest in our community! Without TRHC’s sponsor partners, development of these historic horse trials would be difficult. Many locales nearby, such as Aiken and Southern Pines, have horse trials close to ours in the calendar. Riders really have choices as to where they will compete now, so we are excited about the growth and development of the event this year,” says Executive Director, Kathryn Cunningham.
