“It’s time to play football for real,” announced Landrum High School head football coach Jason Farmer, as his Cardinals prepare for their season, and home, opener, this Friday evening, against Travelers Rest.
Opening kickoff at Cardinal Stadium is set for 7:30.
“We’re excited,” Farmer said. “It’s the first home game. ”He noted that the Cardinals have made some improvements after last Friday’s scrimmage against Blue Ridge.
Farmer has plenty of respect for Travelers Rest. The Devildogs, who dropped their season opener to Southside Christian, will be looking to take it out on Landrum.
“They’re a good football team,” he noted. They have a pretty good quarterback, a pretty good running back and a pretty good wide receiver. On defense, “They’re a really aggressive team. They seem to play really hard. I hope we can match their intensity.”
