The Tryon Running Club (TRC) is organizing the third annual Tryon Half Marathon set to take place on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Harmon Field. A portion of the race proceeds will benefit Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries to support its many programs including Feed-a-Kid and utility bill assistance programs. Mike Ashworth of Wells Fargo Advisors of Tryon is the lead sponsor for the event.

The race continues to grow each year as word spreads about the beautiful course and great volunteers. The highlight of the day is the breakfast served by gracious volunteers. Local runner Paul Zimmerman shares, “ I have fond memories of this race as it was my first half marathon. Everyone associated with the race made it a positive and wonderful experience. The course is great, volunteers top notch and the huge breakfast is wonderful. It’s now an annual for me.” The scenic and relatively flat course begins and ends at Harmon Field with a majority of the 13.1 miles meandering along River Road.
The Tryon Running Club is a 501(c)(3) chapter of the Road Runners Clubs of America that welcomes walkers and runners of all ages and abilities. For info visit www.trypnrunners.blogspot.com. See us on our Facebook page or call Laura Phelps at 828-817-1833.
