Thanks to the generosity of the Polk County Community Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters has recently added an Outreach Coordinator to their staff. Pam Hilsman will be representing BBBS in the community as they plan their expansion to serve more children.
The Polk County Community Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters are joining forces to focus on breaking the cycles of poverty and helping children facing adversity have a better opportunity to realize their full potential.
Hilsman will work towards recruiting volunteers to serve as Big Brothers or Big Sisters, as local council members, or to help with events. She will also assist with event planning and fund development.
Hilsman is married and the mother of two boys. She loves riding her Percheron, Ga., on trails for pleasure. Hilsman is active in the community as a volunteer with TROT, a fire commissioner, a committee member of the Tryon Beerfest, and is also involved with the Foothills chapter of the Wofford Alumni Association.
Hilsman joins Karen Dacey, Program Coordinator for more than 11 years with the local BBBS agency. Big Brothers Big Sisters welcomes Hilsman to the organization, and looks forward to the opportunity to serve more children and families in Polk County and the Landrum area.
Those who would like for Hilsman to schedule a visit with your church or organization, contact her at pamh@bbbswnc.org or call 864-444-7633. For information about BBBS, please contact polk@bbbswnc.org or call 828-859-9230.
