The Town of Columbus and the Columbus Police Department qre proud to recognize officer Jerry Williams for achieving his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
The Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission established the Law Enforcement Officer’s Professional Certificate Program as a means of recognizing the level of competence of law enforcement officers serving governmental agencies within the state, to foster interest in college education and professional law enforcement training programs, and to attract highly qualified people into a law enforcement career.
The Advanced Certificate is the most challenging award in the certificate program and is given based on a combination of formal education, law enforcement training, and years of fulltime law enforcement experience.
Officer Williams joined the Columbus Police Department in 2012. Officer Williams has accumulated over 1,200 hours of documented law enforcement training during his 17-year law enforcement career.  Officer Williams also holds his Intermediate Law Enforcement and Detention Certifications through North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards Commission.
The Columbus Police Department encourages its officers to maintain extremely high standards regarding education and training. We feel this high level of professionalism is a direct reflection of the level of law enforcement service provided to the citizens and business owners in the Town of Columbus.
