Tryon Garden Club to host class taught by Dr. Gillian Newberry on April 15

The Tryon Garden Club is pleased to announce that Dr. Gillian Newberry, retired botanist from the University of South Carolina Upstate will lead the next two-hour class on identifying wildflowers at Pearson’s Falls on Tuesday, April 15 at 10:30 a.m.

Newberry has been called “cool,” “awesome” and “the best biology teacher ever” by her former students, and her new students can expect to be wowed by her expertise as well.
Class participants will meet at the garden house at Pearson’s Falls at 2748 Pearson Falls Rd. in Saluda fifteen minutes prior to class. Attndees should bring a notebook, pen and any wildflower books, and plan to see wood anemone, fairywand and Solomon’s seal as well as other flowering plants.
In the case of rain, Newberry’s class will be pushed to April 17.
