Dotson racing team getting a good start

The Dotson Racing team got a good start to the racing season last weekend. This past Saturday, March 15 was the first race of the year at Greer Dragway.

Travis Dotson of Saluda took home first place in the pro class, with a final run of 4.82 seconds and over 140 mph on the 1/8th mile track. Travis was driving his 2006 RaceTech dragster.

Callie Burnett, of Mill Spring took home first place in the junior dragster class. Callie had a .007 reaction time with a 7.91 elapsed time, giving her a .017 package in her final run. Callie is a sixth grader at Polk County Middle School.

The Dotson Racing team has five current drivers. Ronnie Dotson and Travis Dotson both drive RaceTech dragsters in the pro class. Chad Dotson competes in the footbrake class as well as the pro class occasionally, with his 1972 Chevy Nova. Callie Burnett and Parker Dotson both drive Maddox Race Cars junior dragsters in the junior dragster class. The Dotsons said they look forward to a great year of racing and asked the community to  come out and support local drag racers.
