Albert Jervey Cannon, 90, of Skyuka Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon, NC.

Born in Lynn, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Walter and Dosie Thompson Cannon.  He was married for 67 years to Mary Sue Cannon who died March 1, 2014.

Albert was a carpenter, a farmer, a Veteran of WWII and a good man.  He loved his family, his friends and the land.  He worked hard and got joy from simple things. He was a member of the Pacolet Baptist Church, Lynn, NC.

Surviving are a son, Albert Michael Cannon of Lynn, NC; two daughters, Sue Gosnell (Ross) and Kaye Cannon both of Lynn, NC; three nephews, David Thompson (Sue) of Columbus, NC, Dennis Thompson of Lynn, NC and Fred Collins, Jr. (Liz)  of Hendersonville, NC Special friends Phyllis Meyer Cannon and the staff & residents of White Oak Manor.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Cannon and two sisters, Edna Cannon and Sarah Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC  with Rev. Joe Foster officiating.

The family will receive friends just prior to the service from 1:15 to 1:45 pm Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the funeral chapel.

Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with military rites by the Polk Memorial Burial Squad.
