Gotta dance; gotta dance.

At Super Saturday, audience members and performers most definitely gotta dance.

In 2011, the 19-time national champion Bailey Mountain Cloggers at the Tryon Fine Arts Center brought the house down; last year the Soul Street Dancers who blew the roof off the building . . . and on March 15, the North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble will send TFAC into orbit with performances at 10:45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

Rhythm… funk… innovation… excitement: the NC Youth Tap Ensemble has been hailed as one of the best youth tap ensembles in the world, featuring dancers ages 8 to 18 who hail from North Carolina.

Don’t let the word “youth” fool you: these dancers tear up the floor with poise, passion and professionalism.

They blend cutting-edge contemporary choreography with traditional rhythm tap. They have not only toured the U.S., but also performed in Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, Germany and Mexico.

The dance critic for the News and Observer in Raleigh wrote, “I had to rub my eyes. I knew I was looking at kids, but their maturity and commitment to the work is way beyond their years. They have the explosiveness of youth – so pure and honest. Does anyone have a better time dancing? I don’t think so.”
