Polk County High School loses soccer star Austin Wolfe to graduation this spring, but Wolfe has received a soccer scholarship to Brevard College, where he will take his talents this fall.

Wolfe said Brevard soccer officials showed an interest in recruiting him toward the end of last fall’s season.

He played a scrimmage with the Brevard team, and liked what he found. Wolfe will also join two other former Polk soccer players at Brevard, where he plans to major in criminal justice or sports medicine.

He said last year he began to think about the idea of playing college soccer, adding that his experience at Polk helped prepare him for the challenges of playing at the next level, especially the speed, physical and technical aspects needed for the game.

“We haven’t had anybody who works harder than he (Wolfe) does,” said PCHS head soccer coach Lennox Charles. “He’s as tough and brave as anybody we have.”

Charles said Wolfe has the kind of work ethic that will help him when he encounters many college players with similar physical abilities.
