Shirley Caroline Waters Hipp, 74, of Saluda, passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 in her home.

Born Dec. 2, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Vedas and Louise Waters.  She was the widow of Joe Walter Hipp who died in 2002.  A member of Friendship Baptist Church, she was retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

She is survived by a daughter, Leisa H. Howard (Billy Barton) of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three sons, Joe Hipp (Pam) of Saluda, Cub Hipp (Barbara) of Saluda and Jerry Hipp of Saluda.  Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph Waters of Hendersonville, N.C. and Archie Waters (Angie) of Mill Spring; and three sisters, Patsy Waters of Ellenboro, N.C.; Adeline Pearson (Danny) of Hendersonville, N.C.; Beatrice Ravan (Shine) of Columbus, as well as nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a dear and close friend, Bill Lanier of Saluda.  She was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Graveside services were on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014 in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Henry Vegter officiating.
