Mary “Goldie” Laughter Sevier, 70, of Tryon died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014 at her home.

Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Pelzy and Mary Sain Laughter. A former resident of Delmar, Delaware, she moved to Polk County in 2008. In Delmar, she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a waitress for many years.

Surviving are three brothers; Oscar Laughter (Bea) of Aberdeen, N.C., Homer Laughter (Kay) of Tryon and John Laughter (Pam) of Mill Spring; one sister, Linda Tucker of Tryon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sevier, who died in 2010; her two children, Walter Lee Oliver and Carol Ann Oliver, also her five brothers Zack, Russell, Mack, Lonzo and James Laughter.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Chaplain Rob Parson officiating.

Burial will be in the Mill Spring First Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. Saturday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Hospice and the Hospice House for the care they provided and support given to the family during this time of sorrow. A special thank you to her nurses Jane Foster, Marla Searcy, Monica Pierce, Dr. Kennerly, Stephanie Spahr and Chaplain Rob Parson of Hospice.
