Author Suki McMinn will celebrate the release of her debut novel, Drop Dead Gorgeous, with a reception at Upstairs Artspace on Jan. 10 at 6 p.m., followed by a reading at 7 p.m. at the Upstairs Artspace Literary Open Stage.
McMinn has been a resident of Tryon since 2011, and has read her work frequently at the Literary Open Stage events, held bi-monthly at Upstairs Artspace at 49 South Trade Street in Tryon.010314-DropDeadGorgeus
“I’m very excited to launch my first book here,” said McMinn. “This region has a rich history of being a writers’ haven, and I’m proud to be Tryon’s newest published author.”
Drop Dead Gorgeous is an adult vampire romance set in contemporary Los Angeles, where McMinn lived and worked in the entertainment industry prior to her move to Tryon. The e-book is available on Amazon.com. McMinn is a member of Tryon Writers, a group of local poets and fiction writers who support and promote literary events such as the Literary Open Stage and Lanier Library’s 2014 Poetry Festival.
“I hope people will come and celebrate my book’s release, and then stay for the Literary Open Stage to hear what other local writers are working on as well. These readings are just one of the many reasons I love living here,” She said.
