Sarah Cannon Thompson, 88, of Skyuka Road, Columbus, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013 in  Hospice House of the Carolina Foothills, Landrum, SC.

A lifelong resident of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Dozie Anna Thompson Cannon.

She was the widow of Claude Blaine Thompson who died in 2007. Sarah was a member of Pacolet Baptist Church, Lynn.

Surviving are two sons, David Thompson (Sue) and Dennis Thompson, both of Columbus; a brother, Albert Cannon (Mary) of Columbus; two granddaughters, Cheryl Thompson of Champaigne, Ill. and Johnna Searcy (Ben) of Green Creek; and a great-grandson, Sawyer Searcy.

Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Edith Thompson of Tryon and Ruth Foster of Columbus.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell and Rev. Chad Bowen officiating.

Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.

Family will receive friends just prior to the service on Sunday from 2-2:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
