Monte “Junebug” Dedman, Jr., 73, of Columbus died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 in White Oak Manor, Tryon.

Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late Monte and Emma Wilson Dedman and husband of late Barbara Dedman, who died in 2002. Mr. Dedman was raised in Lynn, and retired from Milliken Hatch Plant after 44 years of service. He loved hunting and fishing. Mr. Dedman was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise Dedman Orr (Russell) of Woodruff, SC and Donna Dedman Williams of Columbus, NC; He was Papa D to three grandchildren, Christopher and Daniel Orr and Jacob Williams; Also three sisters, Alice Marie Kuykendall of Charlotte, NC, Elaine Dedman Bailey of Augusta, GA and Lois Miller of Beech Island, SC; one brother, Ron Dedman of Augusta, GA; his fiancé, Virginia B. Culbreth of Mill Spring. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby and Joe Dedman.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Fred Siegfried officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
