Guynell Newman Shields of Spartanburg died Oct. 13.

A native of Polk County, Mrs. Shields was predeceased by her husband, Huey Shields.

Survivors include daughters, Ruby Thomas, Patricia Pennington, Melissa Williams; son, Graylon Shields; sister, Joyce Mille; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 2 p.m. at New Life Baptist Fellowship in Spartanburg, S.C.
