Thumbs Up Saturday

Published 11:56 pm Sunday, October 13, 2013

Editor’s note: The Tryon Daily Bulletin staff wanted to offer the community a way to pay recognition to those who make Polk County and the Landrum area such a great place to live.

So, in our Saturday editions we’ve started a new “Thumbs Up Saturday” feature. In this feature you can email us a short blurb about a situation in which you feel people went above and beyond to make something happen.

Please email us your “Thumbs Up” to news@tryondailybulletin.com.

National Walk to School Day
A group of police officers, volunteer fire fighters and other emergency personnel assisted with the annual National Walk to School Day Wednesday, Oct. 9 in Landrum. The escorts ensured Landrum’s students could walk to downtown safely in promotion of kids being more active.

A forever home
Philburt is a sweet dog that has been at the Foothills Humane Society for 7 months. We found out this week that he has an approved adopter in Massachusetts! Thumbs up to Great Dog Rescue, Asheville Humane Society and Appalachian Animal Rescue Coalition. We are thrilled.
