Greenville Foothills Pony Club sent eight members to the Carolina Region Showjumping and Tetrathlon Rallies held Sept. 20-22 at the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, N.C.

The showjumping team competed over three jump courses, and the tetrathlon team participated in four separate disciplines consisting of swimming, cross-country running, target shooting and riding over a jump course with additional gate obstacles to complete.  All competitors were also judged on horse management, with judges carefully watching throughout the competition to make sure that horses and equipment were clean, taken care of promptly and properly, and that all work with horses was carried out in a safe manner.  As with all Pony Club rallies, no parental assistance was allowed throughout the course of the rally.

The showjumping team, consisting of riders Katie O’Neal,  Emily Thomas, Rachael Wood, Will Zuschlag and Horse Manager Mikayla Lee won the horse management phase, breaking a five way tie of teams with zero penalty points with a total of 19 “exceeds standards” marks, and earned seventh place in riding.
