Organizers and volunteers gearing up for annual Foothills CROP Walk Against Hunger Nov. 3Published 9:56am Friday, October 4, 2013
Foothills CROP Walk Against Hunger is returning to Harmon Field in Tryon on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m.
CROP Walk is an annual community event to raise awareness and funds to alleviate hunger, around the world and close to home.
Volunteers seek donations during the weeks leading up to the event. Then on the final day, the community gathers to walk together, in celebration of the good things that come from communities that care.
A total of 25 percent of funds raised go to meet local needs; the remainder goes to serve those in need around the world. CROP Walks have been going on since 1947, and have been happening in Polk County for over a decade.
