A benefit Gala Concert will be held Sunday, Oct. 13 in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Foothills Music Club Inc. Three outstanding scholarship award recipients – baritone Tyler Graeper, soprano Kate Riedy and pianist Paulina Ray-Zorick — will perform, giving the audience an opportunity to hear why they, indeed, are award winners.

In addition, on the slate of performers are Fran Creasy, Elaine Creasy Grella, Mimi Child Traxler, Karen Molnar, Carole Bartol, Meryt Wilson, Wanda May, Jeanette Shackelford, Kathleen Foster, Alison Moore, Elaine Jenkins, Susan Mahnke and Amy Brucksch.

There will be a wide variety in instrumentation and performers, as well as music from a list of fabulous composers on the program. Featured are works from Gershwin, Mozart, Joplin, Saint-Saëns, Puccini, Brahms, Bartók, Frescobaldi, Caldara, Gliere, Prokofieff, Giordani, Schönberg, Geld, Delibes and Morel.

The finale will be a performance by concert pianist Beth Child, who will play the Toccata in D Major by Bach and Barcarolle in F# Major by Chopin.

This celebratory Gala Concert is offered as a tribute to the 25-year history of the music club, founded in 1988. All proceeds go to FMC’s Young Musicians Scholarship Program. Foothills Music Club Inc. is a 501(c)3 designated organization. Since the 1994 inauguration of the scholarship component of the music club’s mission, nearly $40,000 has been awarded to talented students to further their music study.

The Gala Concert will be on Sunday, Oct.13, at 3 p.m. at the Tryon Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $15 per person, and are available from FMC members, as well as at TFAC.
