Rattles, banks, whistles at Tryon Painters and SculptorsPublished 9:36am Wednesday, August 21, 2013
Huntoon and his wife, Mary Lou, have just relocated to the Traveler’s Rest area from their home in Texas where he taught high school ceramics. They enjoyed the Tryon area when visiting here and became involved with Tryon Arts and Crafts where Huntoon was able to continue his work in the pottery studio until his house was completed.
The technique that Huntoon will be instructing is called hand building and requires no experience with clay. It is a basic construction method that consists of rolling the clay into a slab and molding it over a form in two or three parts to form a shape that is embellished with texture and additions.
Projects will be constructed in the first part of the workshop, fired by Huntoon in a kiln and glazed and fired again in the second half of the workshop.
The hours of the workshop are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Thursday. Interested persons should contact Christine Mariotti, program chair, at 828-859-8392 or email@example.com
