Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story: Jan. 10-19

Buddy Holly was a brilliant musician who changed the face of popular music and paved the way for the next generation of rock’n’rollers. Follow Buddy’s meteoric rise to fame, from his humble country music roots to the top of the record charts and his untimely death in 1959. You’ll be cheering for more and dancing in the aisles to such rousing fifties favorites as “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” “Maybe Baby,” “That’ll Be the Day,” “Raining In My Heart,” Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba,” and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace.”

With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, 9 to 5: The Musical is a hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era. Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. They conspire to take control of their company and learn there’s nothing they can’t do – even in a man’s world. Outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic, 9 to 5: The Musical is about teaming up and taking care of business.

Boeing Boeing: May 2-11

Glamour-boy architect Bernard simultaneously juggles Italian, German, and American fiancees, each a beautiful airline hostess. Tracking their airlines’ timetables and scheduling non-convergent “layovers,” he keeps “one up, one down and one pending,” until unexpected schedule changes and the introduction of a faster Boeing jet bring all three to Paris and his apartment at the same time. Fasten your seatbelts for this side-splitting unraveling of one man’s careful, romantic planning.

Season tickets are currently available and individual tickets go on sale at the Chapman Cultural Center on Aug. 12. Call the Spartanburg Little Theatre at 864-585-8278 for more information.
