Tony Lee Mathis, 52, of Green Creek passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home.
A native of Jackson County, Mathis lived in Henderson County for most of his life before moving to Green Creek.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Ann Brown.
He owned and operated Tony’s Grading and Septic for 15 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Barbara Johnson Mathis; his parents, Conley and Rosselle Mathis of Big Willow, NC; four sons, Craig Holbert of Hendersonville, Joseph Mathis and wife Kortney of Mill Spring, Brandon Damico of Green Creek and Zeb Lee Mathis of Green Creek; two daughters, Amanda Mathis and husband Johnnie of Green Creek and Marlayna Damico of Chesnee, S.C.; five brothers, James Mathis of Montana, Bruce Mathis of Hendersonville, Fred Mathis of Etowah, Tim Mathis of Green Creek and Mark Mathis of Etowah; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Matthew Morgan officiating.

Burial will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Big Willow.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County, 374 Hudlow Rd., Forest City, NC 28043.
