Herbert Franklin Geier, Jr., 78, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at his home.

Born in Saginaw, Mich., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Franklin Geier, Sr.

He was a graduate of Fair Lawn High School in New Jersey and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Mr. Geier retired from International Wire in Inman, S.C. He served as plant and design engineer for 32 years. While living in New Jersey, he was a volunteer fireman with almost 15 years of service, rising to the rank of lieutenant/captain. He was an avid Michigan University football fan and one of his hobbies was racing homing pigeons.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy. Surviving are his sons, Dean of Mill Spring and David of Spartanburg; and a brother, Richard of Boise, Idaho.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.
