Smith is a hazardous material preparer inspector certifier assigned to the 436th Airlift Wing at Dover Air Force Base, Del.

She has served in federal service for 10 years.

She is the daughter of Joseph and Doris Becknell of Landrum.

Smith graduated in 1996 from Landrum High School.
