Letter to the editor:

Lennie’s note: A message from our daughter, Sergeant Kimberly Walker. Is there any wonder why I’m so proud of her?

To the editor:

Spent the morning at Walter Reed and out of every 10 soldiers I saw, one was an amputee – from one limb, two limbs gone, to all four missing. And they were fully fundtioning and adapting.

So, don’t you dare feel sorry for yourself. It was an eye-opening, mind-opening, soulful experience that I’ll never forget nor should you.

If you have an obstacle in life, don’t let it beat you down, rise up and adapt – defeat it.

– Sgt. Kimberly Wlaker
