If you start looking for Round Mountain as you travel around Polk County and the South Carolina upstate, you will find that you can see Round Mountain from Green Creek, Landrum, Fox Mountain, Saluda and Tryon.
Round Mountain is the newest SCLT property and is currently being reviewed by the state to be put under a forest management plan. According to SCLT’s website, Pam Torlina (Pacolet Area Conservency land protection specialist) has agreed to do a search for endangered and threatened species, accompanied by Dean Campbell, a botanist who is doing a study of Polk County for the N.C. Heritage Trust.
Round Mountain is one of the few undeveloped mountains of the Blue Ridge escarpment and the Tryon /Columbus viewshed, according to SCLT.
“SCLT looks forward to making trails on Round Mountain to be enjoyed by our community,” reads the SCLT website.
