Enhanced tax deductions for conservation easements

Published 9:08am Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Conservation easements enable landowners to maintain ownership and management of their property, preserving precious natural resources (open lands, forests, wildlife habitat, scenic vistas, farmland, stream banks, etc.), and potentially obtain significant federal, state and local tax benefits. Protecting land in this way makes financial sense for landowners.

PAC works in and around Polk County in North Carolina, and in upper Spartanburg and Greenville Counties in South Carolina. PAC holds more than 50 conservation agreements on properties throughout the area and has helped facilitate the preservation of more than 8,400 acres of land in the area.

For more information about conservation easements and the renewed tax incentive, contact PAC at 828-859-5060, email landprotection@pacolet.org, and/or check out PAC’s website, www.pacolet.org.
