Michael R. Zink of Tryon died at home on Sunday, Dec, 30, 2012, after a valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 63 years old.

Mike was born in Detroit, Michigan on Jan. 16, 1949. He was the son of the late Kenneth Ray Zink and Ruth Matthew Zink. He will be dearly missed and carried forever in the hearts of his wife, Sharon Zink of Tryon, son Jason Zink and daughter-in-law Rachel Zink of Asheville, and daughter Alison Zink of Durham, NC.

No services or visitation will be held. The immediate family plans to hold a private celebration of Mike’s life and love at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission Hospital Cancer Services to fund the continued work of the kind, supportive and talented doctors, nurses and staff, all of whom cared so well for Mike and his family throughout the past year. Donations may be sent by mail or made online. Checks can be made out to “Mission Foundation” (specify “Cancer Services” in the subject line), and mailed to: Mission Foundation, Attn: Cancer Services, 890 Hendersonville Road, Suite 300, Asheville, NC, 28803. Online donations can be made at https://connect.missionfoundation.org/donate (please specify “Cancer Services” in the “Designation” drop-down menu).

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all who loved and cared for Mike, and also to those who continue to love and support us—his family—during this difficult time.
