Lady Cardinals smash Liberty

Cardinals’ fans watched as their team defeated the Liberty Red Devils 61 – 24 at home Friday, Dec. 14.

With this win Landrum improves their record to 5-1 and the Red Devils drop to 2-5 on the year.

The Cardinals jumped into the lead at the beginning of the game. In the first half, Landrum played great defense, which led to a lot of exciting fast breaks. Liberty’s defense just couldn’t hold up to the strong offensive play from the Lady Cardinals. Landrum was able to score from all areas around the court from inside the lane to outside with ease. The Lady Cardinals finished the first half up by 19 points.

Landrum came into this match up with three players out sick, which meant the Cardinal bench had to come out and perform well. The whole team did a great job of playing together and using every one in their game plan.

Landrum kept up the same pace of play in the second half to cruise to victory over the Red Devils. The Cardinals had four 3-pointers for the game and 10 different players that put points on the board.

Sydnie Brown, a junior guard, scored 21 points to lead the Lady Cardinals followed by Macy Atkins with 11 points, Keri Ridings and Becca Burress both with 6 points, Rachel Cooper with 5, Lexy Schulman with 4, and Painter, Whitmire, Jackson and Jenkins with 2 points each.

The Landrum Lady Cardinals will face the Blacksburg Wildcats in a AA Region I grudge match on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at home.
