Durham carries on family legacy with BMW by WD

Published 9:24am Monday, December 17, 2012

Warren Durham has opened a new shop in Columbus.

Serving as head mechanic at Durham’s for the last 15 years, Durham decided to open his own shop after his family’s recent sale of Durham’s.

Warren said he offers service for all types of vehicles, though they do specialize in BMWs. BMW by WD is now located at 527 E. Mill St. by Jackson Towing.

Warren’s dad, Gary Durham, worked as the mechanic at the Gulf Station when it opened in 1968. The Gulf Station was the first gas station off the Interstate at the time, Warren said.

Eventually the Gulf Station closed as a service station and the Durham’s opened their mechanic shop behind Bi-Lo.

Warren said the most unique thing about the new shop is that it will offer quick lube, something he said few other shops offer in the area.
