Landrum defeats Polk convincingly in second meetingPublished 9:57pm Monday, December 10, 2012
Wilson once again was strong from behind the three-point line hitting three for the game. Trevor Walker with 12 and Aaron Bryant with 11 rounded out the Landrum players in double figures. For the Wolverines Alec Philpott had 13 points, followed by Ben Stockdale with 8. Anthony Carson had 6 points.
Often these games are seen as measuring sticks for the upcoming season. The future certainly looks bright for the Cardinals, many expecting them to be a strong contender for a state title. But the Polk coaching staff did not see this as an indicator of things to come for them.
They gave high praise to the Cardinals saying “that they are probably the best team we would face all year, until possibly the late rounds of the playoffs.”
PCHS Coach Josh McEntire feels his Wolverines will be strong contenders in the Western Highlands conference this year.
He said facing tough competition early can only make the Wolverines stronger down the stretch. Polk’s record now stands at 2-3. The Wolverines have a full slate at home this week playing North Buncombe today, Chase Wednesday and Madison Friday night.
Landrum is now 3-0 on the season with three games this week as well. They take on Powdersville away today, Chapman away Wednesday and host Liberty Friday.
