He is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Summey of Spartanburg; one grandson, Raymie Summey (Lisa) of Spartanburg; and one granddaughter, Amanda Cohen (Brett) of Fort Mill, SC.

He is survived by four great-grandchildren, Ethan and Gabe Summey, and Harrison and Lizzie Cohen. He was predeceased by a grandson, Ben Summey; one brother; and four sisters.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, December 10 in the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren with Rev. Steve Abe and Rev. C.C. Kurtz officiating.

Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held Sunday evening, December 9 at McFarland’s Funeral Chapel of Tryon. Donations may be made to the Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, 1401 Coxe Rd. Tryon, N.C. 28782 or to Lutheran Hospice at 429 N. Main St. Suite 3, Greenville, S.C. 29601.

The family would like to thank the entire staff of Rose Crest Retirement Center and Lutheran Hospice for their loving compassionate care of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
