Landrum Cardinals blow out Polk County Wolverines
Published 5:26pm Monday, December 3, 2012The Landrum boys varsity team came ready to play and showed it on the court with an 89 – 51 victory over the Polk County Wolverines on Friday, Nov. 30.
Emotions were high as fans for each team cheered and taunted back and forth across the court.
The Cardinals ran out to a quick lead in the first quarter – going up 21-7 over the Wolverines. The Wolverines attempted to close the gap, scoring 21 points in the second quarter, but they couldn’t keep that momentum going.
Daniel Bridges led the Cardinals with an outstanding performance. He had 28 points, four blocked shots and nine rebounds to lead the team. Bridges had plenty of help from teammates. Mark Wilson had 23 points and nine rebounds, while Trevor Walker had 10 points. Truston Whiteside had 12 assists, with nine rebounds.
For Polk County, Alec Philpott and Saquan Miller led with 9 points, followed by Ben Stockdale with 7. Anthony Carson and Todd Yoder, both ended the evening with 6.
Landrum moves on to play Chapman Tuesday, Dec. 4 at home, while Polk County will play away at East Henderson on Dec. 4.
The two teams meet up again on Polk County’s turf this Friday night, Dec. 7.
