Mary Ethel McGuinn

Mary Ethel Dyer McGuinn, 91, of Sunny View, N.C. passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in White Oak Manor, Tryon, NC.

A lifelong resident of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Zadie Ingle Dyer and was the widow of Mack McGuinn Jr., who died in 1980. She retired from Broyhill Furniture in 1986, and was a member of Big Level Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter Kathy Dawn McGuinn of Columbus, N.C. and a brother, Floyd “Bill” Dyer (Carolyn) of Mill Spring, N.C., as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Hilda Elaine McGuinn; three sisters: Elsie, Bessie and Louise; two brothers: Lonnie Ezra and Waitsel Lee and a great-nephew Matthew Dyer.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012 in Big Level Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Elliot and Rev. Robert Orr officiating.

Burial followed the funeral service in the Big Level Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation was held Sunday, November 25, 2012 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills at 130 Forest Glen Dr. Columbus, NC 28722.

At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter Kathy Dawn McGuinn, Ashley Meadow Cir. Bldg. 200 Apt. E, Columbus, NC 28722.
