Published 8:48 pm Wednesday, October 10, 2012

On Thursday, Oct. 11 at 1:30 p.m. the Green Blades Garden Club will meet at the home of Susie Hursey for the program “Fall Migration of Songbirds.”  Joann McMillan, Barbara Clegg and Trudi Hipple will assist  Hursey in hosting the meeting. Skilled birder Jerry Johnson will share his knowledge with the club. Johnson is a resident of Mill Spring, a member of the Carolina Bird Club, Greenville County Bird Club and Audubon.  His bird photos have been published in numerous publications, including the N.C. Department of Wildlife. “The Chat” recently published an article and photos by Johnson recording the second known nesting of common mergansers on the Green River since 1938.  He is also the main contributor of data on bird species found at Walnut Creek Preserve.
The Green Blades are accepting membership applications.  If you are interested, please contact Shelvie Foust at 828-894-8358.
